The Reverend Professor Russell Goulbourne is the ninth Warden of ÖªÒõÊÓƵ. A distinguished academic leader, prior to his appointment as Warden, Russell was Professor of French Literature at the University of Melbourne, where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts from 2019 to 2024. An alumnus of ÖªÒõÊÓƵ Theological School, he was ordained as a priest in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne in 2021.

Russell has held senior academic and leadership roles across leading international institutions. He completed his Bachelor of Arts, Master of Studies and Doctor of Philosophy at Keble College, University of Oxford, before joining the University of Leeds, where he taught from 2000 to 2013 and served as Head of the Department of French. In 2014, he was appointed Professor of French Literature and Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at King’s College London, a role he held until 2018, before relocating to Australia to join the University of Melbourne. 

Widely respected for his scholarship in French literature and his commitment to education, Russell brings extensive experience in academic strategy, institutional governance and community leadership. His vision for Trinity is grounded in academic excellence, service to the community and a deep alignment with the College’s values and traditions, positioning the College for continued strength and success in the years ahead.
